What do you guys think the best all around quad is? Im looking to buy one. I wont be racing it just messing around on the road and trails. I was thinking of getting a 400ex. I know you cant make a 400ex as fast as a 450 but what would it take to get one halfway fast enough to keep up with one?

400ex for sure .. very nice to mess around on and plenty of mods to make it faster

40ex then sell all your motor and motor componits and pick up a yz426 motor for the quad. ill be faster than a 450 and handle better than one. for jumping you would want to pick up differant front shocks. the fronts can handle a 3 ft flat landing.

IMO the best all arround sport quad is the KFX700 vforce. You can cruise with the utes and run with the 400's/450's when you want to. If you are a bigger guy like me 6'8" 240lb, no other quad fits like a vforce.

Keep telling yourself that you can run with the 450s.... A Raptor 700 would definitely be a better overall atv than the KFX... A lot more power, quicker, lighter, and better handling...

I was in your exact same boat a month ago. I did spend considerable time looking at all my possible options. I am 6'0" and weigh about 240, uh, uh, all muscle of course but back to the story. I looked really close to all the 450's, liked them all. Looked at the KFX 700, rode it. Liked it but I don't like an auto-matic and it did feel heavy. Great sound but I expected more motor out of a v-twin 700. I am sure there is plenty you can do to it though. I rode all the 450's except the new suzuki as it was still not in showrooms(sold-out). Fast, nimble, good power. Then I looked at the Raptor 700r. Boatloads of torque and the handling was great. Not as nimble as the 450's but more than enough for me. I mainly ride dunes and the occasional trail. Stock it is faster than the 450's with a lot more torque and you can't even mention the KFX in this group. I have ridden a couple of different 400's in the past and I thought they were good but down on power. I choose the raptor because it just fit me better. I am not a racer but I like the handling and loved the power. Plus I think it is the best looking quad out there. My opinion of course. The best thing to do would be decide what type of riding you will do and do exactly what you are doing here. Ask a few questions, maybe throw a leg over a couple and see what blows your skirt up. Good Luck!

I second the Raptor 700r. Great power, reverse, good handling..... very well rounded IMO.

imo forget the raptor 700 kfx 700 and the 400ex go with the banshee or if you want something as fast as the 450r your best chance is to get the 450r..but thats just in my opinon.:macho :ermm:

If you're gonna do that use 250R geometry.

Dont get a kfx 700 there no fun unless you dont know how to shift! The 400 exs are nice but if you dont need reverse just buy a 450 because once you start putting all those parts on 400 ex to make try to hang with a 450 you could have done bought one my cousin knows from experience.
