Anybody answer the above question? I'm big into snowmobiles and I have a Polaris XCR 440 liquid that makes close to 100HP and I was just curious what my quad makes. I'm new to quads so I dont know anything. My sled weighs about 450lb and I weigh 250lb and it can get me close to 100MPH on a GPS. How does my 4 stroke Honda compare?

Thanks,

Dosent compare at all lol A stock honda 300ex makes between 13-16, deppending on how new the engine is. But with the right amount of money they CAN make upwards of 40 HP, but it would take plenty of money, time, and parts.

I'd agree.

18hp at the crank stock.. around 15 at the rear wheels.

40hp is "possible".. but that would take a LOT (and I mean a LOT) of money.. lol. I've got a lot of work into mine, and I only put out about 30-32hp at the rear wheels (on a good day).

Don't let that discourage you.. the 300ex has a great torque curve, and in the woods torque is king. In the sand dunes.. the 300 is screwed.. lol.

As far as top speed goes.. on the 300ex your limited by the gearing and the rev limiter. Stock tops out right at 55mph (depending on the substrate). Change gearing and increase the rev limit and you can get in the 70mph range easily. Mine tops out at 74mph (according to my gps). Could go faster, but I don't want to sacrifice bottom end for top speed.
