kinda defeats the purpose of the hood if you dont remove the plastic inderneath it, the hood feeds air to the oil cooler so remove the plastic to get the true effect

Those hoods are sweet but 160 bucks is a bit much!

Lol, yeah I know. But I just bought that front end, rear shock, and bought a houser stem and clamp today so funds are running short. And I can't decide which bumper to get, I like about 12 different kinds.

insaneracin2003 how much do you want for it?

dude you should definately buy the black IMS Intimidator bumper. it would look sick on your quad especially with the the a arms. search ebay for "IMS intimidator" and one should pop up. i just bought a regluar intimidator and it looks so nice

$160 is a new cam, carb or piston, which would do much more for the bike than a hood that can crack or break. They look good but there's no way in hell i'd spend that much money on looks.

are these hoods made for the 400ex, or are they just the 250r hoods installed on the ex? do the lines match up well?

AtvKid4Eva
04-11-2006, 09:27 PM
mine is made for a 400ex and it lines up perfectly. was very easy to install.

dude get 05 or 06 front plastics like mine

check it

mines a 450r hood but it fits the 400ex's 05 06 plastics perfectly with not adjustments. it looks sicker than pitting the hood on older plastics and aftermarket prices are rediculous so if you want to save mad money and still get the killer looks of a hood then get stock 05 06 plastics trust me they are stronger than aftermarket. the only bad thing is they are 1-2lbs heaver but who cares 2 lbs isnt much at all.

So you're saying it's cheaper to buy newer plastics and a 450r hood than an aftermarket one for the regular plastic?:huh

And IMO the older style plastic looks way better.

prolineracing
04-15-2006, 09:15 PM
yeah its wayyyy cheaper and it looks sooo much better.

mine also came with the bike too. haha i doubt i would spend 160 on a hood. i would rather buy the maier c.f. hood for like 50 is i wanted a hood soo bad.

also, i have been in some mean and nasty crashed and my hood hasnt scratched or cracked. just the enamil has a small small crack but you have to look really hard and close but otherwise im satisfief. if the lights were in there instead of the hood i would have had to replace everything(bulbs casings and harness)

Explain to me how it's cheaper.

prolineracing
04-16-2006, 07:13 PM
okay. well depending where you get them and what kind of plasctics you get are a **** load of money. for afretmarket plasctics it can get up to 500 bucks for just the fronts.
stocks are strong and look good but they are heave and the color fades faster.
you can go to the dealership and get a pair of stock plastics for aaround 100 and the hood is another 150 again depending where you get it from.and if you want even cheaper go with a maier hood for 45-60 dollers and they make a c/f hood also.

400exMO
04-17-2006, 10:43 AM
I thought you'd save mad money? The cheapest route that you said you can go is still 145$. Where a brand new carbon fiber quad tech hood is 175$, and it looks better than the maier.

prolineracing
04-17-2006, 03:09 PM
it all depends on where you get it. maier front plastics can get up to 300 and all other aftermarkets are more than that. so yeah you save mad money.

You make no sence. He'd save mad money where?? Stock plastics with a quad tech hood is nearly the same price as what you did and it looks better. No money saved!
