Hey guys the pred uses full synthetic oil, Is there an alternative to the pure PS-4 oil? Like Valvoline? I would like to use the PS-4 but man this stuff is like 7 bucks a quart! The last thing I want to do is burn up my clutch for motor cause of oil, so if there is an alternative is it recommended?

I think you are trying to save the money in the wrong places.

I ride about 50-60 hours per year. I change my oil 4-5 times per year. With that amount of oil your not gonna save much money every year with switching to a cheaper oil.

Just wondering cause it calls for an oil change every 10 hours and the local shop don't carry pure oil.

use any other synthetic you want, just make sure it says it is made for motors with wet clutches, this is a must

My brother uses Amsoil Forumla 4-Stroke in his '04 Predator TLD. He claims that it seems to run better and seems to have a little bit more power with Amsoil and is very happy with it.
PS4 is a good oil, but its far from cheap.

I would really like to know how a crank case oil can give more hp.

I will be riding my quad a lot this summer. I think I will just stick to Pure PS-4. I think the closest place is chathix's store hehe, better to spend on oil then a new clutch...

You dont have to run PS4, as long as the oil is designed for motocycles it wont ruin your clutch.

Not sure if you have ever used or seen PS-4 Octane, I am not sure what weight it is, like a 5w20 - 40 or 0w30 - 40 or something. Next time I am in AutoZone I will look for high performance synthetic oil designed for bikes and ATVs with wet clutches.

pretty sure a pred used oild for the top end also,. the slicker the oil, the less the motor has to work while its lubed, meaning the more power is free'd up

DUDE, I was just asking. Isn't slicker worse on the clutch plates? It might ride with more power, but won't it decrease the life of your clutch?

As long as the oil is approved for wet clutches it will work just fine.

There are plenty of options. There is Bel-ray thumper oil(which is a 20w50).....Amsoil, valvoline Racing, RotellaT, motul......the list goes on and on........

I will not buy the polaris oil change kit that they sell agian, When the bike gets warm its hard to find "N". i heard of this problem before but it has never been a issue for me, I used to use Amsoil and will go bac to that next time.

Try a thicker oil. I am running amsoil 0w40 and when it warms up, neutral is, also, difficult to find. Ran Bel-Ray 20w50 before with great success. I am going back to that.

It is, also, less expensive.

Same here Josh......I'd rather keep running Bel-Ray...I love their oils.....but would like to run what you mentioned in the spring-summer-fall.......and maybe a little thinner oil in the winter.....do they have any that would work???
