View Full Version : HELP- My powerband has fallen and I can't get it up

I used to have fantistic bottom and mid range with a decent top end but after putting 8-paddle haulers on, it takes forever to top out in 5th. Also it won't accelerate nearly as quickly. I know that more traction and less wheelspin slow the motor down but this is terrible. What have you done to solve the problem? Or do I just live with it and hope for a killer holeshot?
I'm thinking the pipe may be holding me back, if so what would be a good pipe that isn't much louder? Looking at LRD and Sparks X-6 but afraid they may be too loud. Opinions and experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

your power is falling with those mods??:huh . im scared cuz i got bout all that except no aftermarket piston and a eseries. but..... what ive heard and read off this forum is that people go down one tooth on front sprocket. (im guessin urs is original 15t) and ive read in magazines that 8 paddles are for modded engines so u might wanna get some 10 paddles . im guessin both these mods together will help you alot. and if you dont need ur choke. you could take it out for better throttle response. jus a sugg. but man thats all i can think of. hope this helps.

Thanks Eldo!
I run a 14T and removed the choke a long time ago and a good rhyme to remember is more paddles = more power. Currently I need to physically push the bars down in third or backoff the throttle to keep the front end down when it hooks up good. I'm just having problems getting up to the stock rev limiter in 4th and 5th - seems to take way to long to top out.
BTW- checked the plug and it was a medium-dark brown with 50% vp-c12 so went down 1 on the main and will see if that helps next weekend.

Eldo- just putting on a XR-400 headgasket will help you a bunch in the comp dept!
