Are you saying they have exhaust packing that last 5 yrs? If so where ya get it?

And lasttime I did buy packing I though they charged me $25. If it is only $10 that is pretty cheap.:chinese:

I just had to repack my exhaust yesterday and you don't know how close I was to running over to my grandpa's house and getting some kitty hair fiberglass to shove in there. I bought the packing and figured out it was pretty much the same thing... They just call it "Duraglass".

it it called silent sport packing, and yes it is supposed to be good for 5 years. comes standard in all HMF exhaust.

And packing should only be like $10, $15-$20 for the good stuff. If you get packing, make sure to get the loose fiber, not the sheet. the loose fiber will absorb more sound and be quieter than the sheet will.

Yeah the sheets suck. I had absolutely o packing at all in my muffler, went and bought some 7 dollar sheet fiberglass type [acking and you can not tell the difference between it and no packing at all.

I have never packed my exhaust and I don't want to drill out the rivets. Do you think I should? How do you know if the packing has gone bad, because mine sounds the same as when I got it and its three years old.

they usually get a hallow sound when they need packed unless it is oil soaked.

Is FMF 2 stroke packing any good? Or should I spend a little more and go with Silent Sport?

If its been 3 yrs.. I would say that chances are there is zero packing in your exhaust. But I could be wrong, I never heard of that 5 yrs stuff. I'm ussually happy if it last a yr.

I bought packing the first 2 changes and they only lasted 1 yr. I did an r-16 packing and it also lasted a yr. And this last packing was with r-16 and I just did that a few days ago.

A friend of mine (flyin#5) used insulation and it actually worked out good. Lasted a lot longer than he expected.
