Need Help Fast!!!

OK tonight i was putting my chain gaurd on and where the top bolt goes into the engine case cracked off not the bolt but the case itself half of it just chiiped off :(

my question is it looks like that hole goes pretty deep can i tap it further and still make it work or what any help would be appreciated

If I understand you right its the top mount of the case saver by the front sprocket, that bolt is a 6mm x 100mm. It threads into the right case half, not the left were your case cracked off. Are you useing the right bolt?

ur telling me that thing is a really long bolt? because its threaded from the end and always used a short bolt probaly the dumb ars who had it before me

Yes, the top case saver bolt is 6mm x 100mm. Someone might have over torqued it at one time and snaped it off in the right case half. The fast fix was to tap out the left side for a larger thread shorter bolt. This is what might have weakened your mount area and caused it to break off.

How bad is the top mount cracked? What size bolt was threaded into the left case half? What year cases do you have? 86's were very thin up there, newer cases are beefed up in that area. If I were you I would split the cases and fix it right, but I'm a mad scientist with my R's. You might be able to JB weld it or better yet TIG weld it and tap the left side out for a longer bolt.

not too bad i may try to tap it in further and get a longer bolt and that should work thast plan A for right now im rebuilding the engine this summer so ill have it welded up then probaly
