Which Cam should i get for my 06 450R the HRC cam or a Hotcam? If Hotcam should I go stage 1 or 2? I plan on alot of mods but so far I have full exhaust with carbon fiber HMF and jet kit, Intake, and very soon a revbox with the HRC CDI add on. A new piston or Big Bore kit is most likely in the future as soon as i get the dough.

i would go with a stage 2 hot cams because i hear that the hrc cams are about $400 but i dont know if they really are.

Its 400 bucks for the whole HRC kit but you can get just the cam for about $170 and i can get the hotcam stage 2 for about $140. But i just saw that alba has a kit with piston and cam for about $430 that has pretty high power increase. so im pretty much stuck on which way to go. I was just wondering if anyone has compare two 450Rs one with the HRC and one with a hotcam.

The HRC kit would be the better way to go if that's all you planned on doing to the quad. The entire kit retails from Honda for $360. If you are serious about doing a bore kit and other internal engine mods, I would go for the Stage 2 Hot Cam. The Stage 2 is designed for increased mid to top-end performance, so you may lose a little low-end, but if you have a bore kit and exhaust and all that, the low-end torque loss won't even be an issue.

I would go with the hot cam stage one. But that is just me I like torque you wont really be getting that with the stage 2.

Go with the stage II hotcam, esp if you plan on doing any engine mods, such as inc. compression ratio, or as you say you plan to add, the rev box. with the rev box allowing you to rev higher the stage II cam will put those rev's into use and into speed. The 450r has enuff torque. I noticed a power boost in all ranges when I added a stage II hotcam. I GAINED low end, but not as much as I would have with the stage I, which is a better choice for the 400ex as stated above, not to bash on him but the 400ex and 450R a two waaay different bikes when it comes to gearing and power. but that is just my 2 cents.

What about the woods? Which one would you go with if you only raced harescrambles and such?

most harescrambles still have a high speed section. it seems to me that the stage I is just wasting your power. and you will lose low end.
