Has anyone tried extending the stock 400 swingarm? I would like to go plus 2" on the swingarm and just dont want to dish out 600 bucks to try it. I would rather extend the stocker and try it out if I dont like it stock ones are pretty easy to find so no big money loss.

This is just a guess on my part, but I don't think that you can reweld the stock swingarm and make it longer. Steel yes but Alumunin no. Someone was just asking about getting his craked one welded up and everyone said that it would brake again. I know that the 250r one if you reweld it it will break again in the same spot. And tring to make it longer will be more stress and it might break very easy. This is just a guess. You might have to bight the big bullet and spend the $600 or so.

Yes you can have a stock swingarm welded and extended. My dad's friend is a fabricator and will do it for about $100-125 bucks. I would have to talk to him to get an exact price. He did my R swing arm and I abused it to no end. I broke my frame 4 times before I had any probs with the swing arm. To weld aluminum right you have to run a argon gas and special wire(aluminum abviously). He has also repaired engine cases and bearing carriers so he has experience at welding on cast aluminum bike parts.

Hey man i would not consider exstending ur stock 400ex swingarm because they are weak enough as it is...Maybe if you reinforced it it would be OK but not as good as aftermarket...But Buy Ricos and experiment

Rico, you'll be pleased with the Houser, it was heavier than I thought it would be but definitely a quality unit.http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/e1ae99bc/bc/Smokers+Pics/s-arm.jpg?bcfrpj9AqIw0zrif :p
