They are just as strong as the original.

Yes, if you use red loctite or something similar to bond the helicoil to the motor.
Think about it, you would then threading the bolt into the hardened steel rather than the soft aluminum. Some car engines that have aluminum blocks use steel inserts similar to helicoils on the bolt holes to prevent the threads from pulling out.

I agree with bradrenea, steel threads can take alot more than aluminum ones.
