Does anyone have a step by step set of directions for removing the rear axle bearings on a 400 EX?

Thanks for the help

the "clymer" manuel has it - but pretty easy - when ya' get the carrier out of the swingarm - use a long metal(7" long or so) rod - or a big flat screwdriver works - and tap the old ones out (you tap out from the inside - thru the carrier w/ the screwdriver) you might have to pull the seals out first to get the bearings to come out - it's pretty easy once ya' start - then just tap in the new bearings& seals GENTLY - if using a screwdriver be careful not to gouge them - a socket the same size as outer ring of bearing works good for tapping them in - apply grease to seals and around the inner metal sleeve that goes in center of carrier (it'll come out when ya' pull bearings) - - just go for it - - - or buy the manuel - good luck

they don't usually tap out:mad: a little trick to get the bearings out I found is to heat the carrier (oven) and the bearings usually come out easier. It also helps to have a press.

is there a trick to getting the big nit off of the axle next to the break disc. the one on mine is froze up on there and does not wanna budge. Im thinking about heating it up carefully.

Any ideas?

Be sure your turning it the right way. They are reverse threads. so you will have to turn the inside nut counter-clockwise. If they wont turn still try usisng a big cheater pipe to break it loose. The first time is always ver though

and if it's a stock nut - use blue locktite when you put it back on - otherwise they always come loose
