Im looking to sell my new trx450r and build a bike from the ground up..the first thing that came to my mind was the 250r considering the easiness to find parts and such...should i do this? what should i lookout for in the process?? thanks

Honestly it can be done but the little parts start to add up quick like mounts and grommets etc. etc. You would end up saving money in the long run if you bought one and rebuilt what you wanted on it. Though, if you are not in any hurry then building them are fun!

Just take your time and you will find the right deals and the right parts. Dont get in a hurry.

Yea Bee!

Man, I am waiting right now for my break to be over, Then I can check the tolarences on the bearings and the crank. You remember how my crank just slides in. I gotta figure that one out now. I did get the transmission all put back together.

its getting there slowly

do it....i rebuilt my R when i was 17 and the before and after pics are unbeleiveable...plus you will be prouder of something you built rather then something you bought (450R)

Think of it like a car. You could build yourself a really nice Ford Ranger like it was brand new, and make it look cool with a nice lift kit and such. It would be cool, and fun.

But would the finished product be as cool as a 57 Chevy, or a classic Camaro? No quite so much.

There is still that "classic" feel around a 250r that makes it a great project quad.
