Where did you get insurence for 8$ I know it varys but I got good credit so it should be around the same.

Do they cover break downs or just stolen bikes or what?

I pay about 600 bux a year to insure all of my offroad stuff. I lost 3 bikes off a trailer one time a few years back due to a crash. Luckily it was the other driver's fault & her insurance covered the loss. My insurance would not have covered it had the crash been my fault. I got a separate policy for the quads & dirt bikes soon after.

If you finance a quad, you must have insurance on it. If the lender finds out that the quad that they hold the title to is not insured (and they will), they will impose their own insurance on it. Thier insurance is usually four times more expensive than the insurance you can get on your own.

Sometimes, you will not find out that they insured the quad until a year or two later, when you get a letter saying that the quad was not insured, so they put their own insurance on it for $1200 a year. When and if you aquire your own insurance, they will lift the insurance they put on it. They will not refund you any money.

My quads are paid for, and are fully insured. As rampant as atv theft is these days, it would be idiotic not to insure them. I pay about $80 a year for each quad to be insured. Pretty cheap when you consider they cost about 7K each.

My insurance doesn't cover mechanical failures, but if it rolls down a hill, or I smack a tree and wreck it, it's covered.

I have my insurance through Markel www.bike-line.com

80 A YEAR! I gotta look into that. So your saying that if I am driving along and run into a tree, they will pay for the parts to fix it?What if the parts are aftermarket will they pay for those?

My policy includes a maximum of $1000 in aftermarket parts.

Of course, you can adjust that per your requirements.

If you've taken an atv safety course, make sure you tell them. I got a nice discount for completing the course.

my policy only covers theft, damage during transport.....total loss stuff. I can cover the cost of my screw ups in the woods.

as you can see, I have a few bikes to insure.

Which 450?

I have full coverage for $100 a year, and a $250 deductable. I was mostly worried about theft, but full coverage was only $20 more a year so I went for it.

For some of us the expensive of the machines alone are enough and in some area's such as mine they peel the skin off your a.s.s for bike insurance, meanwhile you only get charged 80/year. some of us just can't afford the insurance, me being one of them (Haven't found a reasonable quote yet). Besides, the insurance company still kicks you in the *** in the end if your bike is damaged/stolen.

I pay around $300 a year to insure my YFZ , and it's the best money I've ever spent . 1 accident and you'll understand why ..... I've been off for almost 2 years due to an accident involving my quad and my insurance company has covered my lost wages since then , along with all my medical expenses . It's deffinatly worth the money !!!

Another thing .... think of it this way .... if you're involved in an accident that is your fault and you don't have insurance and you're brought to court ... because you don't have insurance on your vehicle the courts will go after your home owners insurance . Once theres a claim against that insurance , consider yourself f***ed !!!!!
