Every on who has owned a 400ex has to have had a clutch burn up on the exhaust. what have you done to solve that problem and would a longer cable off a differant quad fit/work ?

I have never had that problem. My problem was my Clutch Cable breaking off at the Lever. If it is properly installed, it shouldnt be hitting the exhaust. It took me a couple of times to make sure i ran it right.

well this never happend to me, but i know people who have had this problem, and they just used a zip tie to move it farther away from the pipe.

i had a custom cable made extra long and then i ran it completly around the headers. its no where near the hot pipes.

I switched to a 300ex clutch cable for mine. It is longer than the 400ex cable, so you are able to route it down the frame, not between the headers

mine clutch cable melted on my header hah, i had an extra cable (the housing of the cable) lying around, so i put that around it and then wrapped it in duct tape.. works fine, but the duct tape looks like it boiled :D

cut a piece of 1/4 inch rubber hose, you can buy it for 45 cents a foot. i used a 4 inch piece, then sliced it down the middle to open it up. put it over clutch cable between the pipes. works perfect.

my cable has a protective outer rubber wrap thing on it that protects it. You could try to wrap your headers with exhaust wrap. I just did mine and it works great, looks sweet to.

I have a 300ex cable on the way. longer for my longer stem and you can run it down the frame.

Did you try bending the little wire loop thats attached to the engine mount yet? Try that first, if you still need more room use the zip tie method like mentioned above.

I used a spring that just fit around the cable, and now it never burns..the spring takes the heat instead of the cable itself.
