View Full Version : Question on aftermarket pipes! Please reply

10-04-2001, 05:38 PM
I have a 250ex and was wondering what would be the best aftermarket pipe for it because I am getting one. I know of the FMF Megamax 2, Big Gun, Procircuit T-4, possibly Yoshimura, and Graydon Proline. Which one would be the best one to get. I am leaning toward the Big Gun because I'm not 100% sure on the Yoshimura. The Big Gun gives the 250ex 4 more horsepower and is a lot lighter than stock. If I got a new pipe would I have to rejet and would it be expensive. Please help!! Any help is greatly appriciated!! Thanx

get the graydon proline in dirtwheels a 250ex pulled stock blasters in a drag race and yes you will have to rejet but only like up like a couple of jet sizes a jet is like 3-5 hundred dollars each but they are worth it

Yeah dirtwheels said it raised the hp like 25%. Thats pretty good, I bet they would keep up with mojaves, 300's and blasters. Sounds good to me and I don't think there that expensice. Does yosh, fmf, white bros even make pipes for 250's?

white brother currently doesnt and neither does fmf but yoshi does

So what pipe should I get. The big gun give it 4 more horsepower. I know Yoshimura's are good on a 400ex because my neighbor has one. I don't know if it would be any good on a 250ex though.

a 4hp increase yeah right that might be spread all through out the powerbong but i might be wrong but i would suggest the graydon proline ,oh yeah my friend [the one with the 400ex he got from his dad and doesnt take care of]has a sister that got a big gun on her 250ex and it improved it a little but we had drag races between my 300 and it to see if it improved it any and it still got killed even with the pipe but it was faster i could tell because of how much i was infront when we reached the powerline

The 4 horsepower increase with the big gun is with the header also. Its a complete system. She probably has just the slip on and the quiet series pipe.

after reading what you said i went down to his house to give him a new rim [ he bent his left front when he flipped] and i looked at her big gun all it said was big gun exhaust systems but she had the header also

To get the 4 horsepower it has to be the race version. It should say big gun RACE.

The pro circuit is the way to go..
its a bit louder but sounds like a real racing pipe... and there are huge power gains by just installing the pipe and not jeting.. I am sure if you jet you are better off.. I have a 2001 400ex with a 14tooth and a pro circuit t-4.. I can stay neck and neck with a 2002 400ex with white brother e-series and K&N jet kit and filter...
I actually am better off because like in the sand and racing i have that better low end.

Pro circuit is the way to go

ok it wasnt the race version

i would go with graydon, mainly because when dirtwheels was choosing their parts im SURE they researched them EXTENSIVELY and as a result they chose the graydon proline. and since FmF and white bros dont make em.... i would go with the graydon... o yeah..... does pro circuit even make a t-4 for a 250ex?

DO NOT believe everything you hear in dirt wheels!

For one thing: my 300ex would not "pull" a blaster (how will a 250ex?)
And, for another thing: i had a problem with a yoshimura slip-on cracking the weld at the mounting bracket (300ex) which created an exhaust leak that melted my rear fender, and the response of the yoshimura folks was not as great as you would expect.

Good luck with what ever you get...just keep the OEM unit(s) for resale, warrantee and/or future use.

So what pipe would be the best? Would I need to rejet? I think I'm gonna get the Big Gun. It seems to be a really good pipe. Does anyone have one. Any advice is appreciated. Thanx
