I just purchased a HRC kit for my 2006 450R. I was reading the manual and it says every 6 races or 15 hours they suggest changing the piston and rings, as well as the wrist pin.????


That's every other weekend? and at least $100 each time.

I'm thinking this is just for drastic measures??

If that motor uses the same piston and head as the bike does, it is true, you are supposto replace the piston every 20 hours. i dont know if it loses power or whatever but i know on the 04-05 450 they use different rings or something to prevent this. im not an expert but that is what i read. If there is no change in performance i would not worry about it.
