Well, I have a couple decent size holes in my head of my 300ex. My dealer said that they arent going to bother any thing, but I want to get the fix any way. For a temp solution, Im using some high temp silocone. Then when I get some down time from racing, im going to take the head on and fix it. Now heres the question, what can I use to fix it. If you tell me what to use, can you tell me where to get it too. Thanks

you could weld them up if you know someone who can do it.

Permatex.
It is used in automotive gasket making.
Make sure it is for high heat applications.
Get it at your local auto parts store.
Although it is similar to the silicone you are currently using.

I bet if you cleaned around the holes good, JB weld would probably work great for you. And it would be stronger than a silicone product.

well the silicone is only going to be a temperary solution until I get some down time during the race season. Im leading my class in points as of now, and I dont want to miss a race. What is JB weld and how and where do I get it??

jb aluminum weld is a playdo like substance, that when smushed all together hardens into a aluminum like substance in about 10 minutes and fully hardens in about 2 hours. its great. ive used it many times, and you seem to be perfect canidate to use it on those holes. you can get it as most atv/dirtbike shops for a few bucks. good luck

should I just forget about using the silicone and try to find some of this JB weld stuff? Do you think the home depot will have it???

i was just reading the facts on JB weld and it says that it is good up to 500 degrees. Doesnt the motor get hotter than 500???

I sure hope your motor dosent get that hot, your exhaust might. JB Weld would be my solution. It works and is cheeper and easyer than finding someone to weld the holes.

Did you just ask what JB Weld is? Wtf!?! It's basically a fix for jobs that duct tape can't handle. If you can't duck it, don't **** it until you try JB Weld. If I remember correctly I had the airbox of my 400EX held together with JB weld, so it not only sticks to metal but plastics also. Great stuff. BTW, how did you get holes in the head? Are they all the way thru or what?

idk why there are holes in my head....lol. Well, I have decided to go with High Temp Silicone, only because it will be easyer to remove when the time comes to acually "weld" those holes up. Thanks everyone for the help. If it wasnt for you guys, i probaly would be buying myself a 250x motor.

those holes dont go through the ports or anything do they.......if they dont , i would leave them alone......it will help cool the head

no they dont, but they are very brittle and break bigger real easy.

If they don't go all the way thru I think I would leave them. They aren't going to go anywhere that will harm something unless they get nailed by a big rock or something, and what are the chances of that? Just my opinion.

my opinion is leave the cracks alone.if they are not leaking.i think my 300ex,and 250x both had them.if it really bothers u compare to a new 300ex.just like it was said a couple other spot earlier.it just part of the casting, nothing will crack it with the fender on...
