The '86-'87 swingarm is part of the rear engine mount system and is 1" longer, the dogbone in the '86-'87 swingarm link is 1" longer, the '86-'87 pegs mount different and rear engine mounts are different. Everything else should fit.

You can make it work if you are crafty! You can use your current swingarm but I will suggest adding some type of spacer to the cutout area so the bearings do not work themselves out of the race.

The axle and carrier is the same.

There are '88-'89 swingarms all over ebay. '86-'87 are sometimes impossible to find on Ebay.

The motor will drop into the '88 frame with no problems. The rear lower engine on the '88 frame is welded to the frame and the upper rear mount is on a crossbar. If you use the '87 swingarm on the '88 frame you will need to place a spacers in the cutout so the bushings do not work themselves out of the swingarm.

The blue swingarm is an '86-'87! I am the one who told the seller to correct his posting! READ THE DESCRIPTION!! I AM watching that swingarm for the other 250R project in our shop:p

hey so my motor will and everyting will drop into an 88 frame and up with no problem its just that i have to space the swing arm because its an inch widder.

yes and NO.

Look at the swingarm pics. Notice the cutout area in the '86-'87 swingarm? That is where the rear engine mount bracket goes for the '86-'87 frame. The rear mounts are a part of the '88-'89 frames. If you use an '86-'87 swingarm on an '88-'89 frame you will need to fill the void with a piece of tubing so the swingarm bolt can pass through it and the swingarm bushings do not work themselves loose.

The swingarms are the same WIDTH but the lengths are different.
