I've got a blaster right now with elkas/asr front end (50 pounds over on the valving with the elkas), 250r rear shock, g-force axle, porting/polishing, 20x11x9 holeshots on .190, 21x6x10 holeshot xcr on .190, toomey pipe kit. Right now I'm deciding if I should keep the blaster or get a 300ex witch if i got a 300ex I'd have enough for a pipe suspension and tires..Should I keep the blaster or get the 300ex. I don't have the money for motorwork in the 300ex so wat should I do?

man its hard too pick but i would go with the 300. But the blaster would be faster right now but if save up for motor work the 300 would be faster

so wait... your going to get a slower quad... with about the same suspension and handling? :huh i dont get it... if your making a switch from the blaster at least upgrade. get a slightly modded 400ex or keep the blaster.

If your racing, I would just keep the Blaster. Then when you get old enough to race something bigger I would go buy something else. Until then keep the Blaster and save up for something bigger and faster.

I would agree with the majority here. Keep the blaster man.

Switching to a 300ex.. isn't an upgrade. Expecially since you arelady have good suspension. ;)

It is an upgrade if you are a trail rider, a 300EX is a very relible quad, not to fast, but good.

I would go 250R!

I disagree on the upgrade part. The blaster already has an aftermarket front end with elka suspension. You'r not gonna get that out of a stock 300ex.

Now, if he can find a modified 300ex.. then go for it.. but a stock 300ex would be a downgrade. WIth the extra money he's gonna have to spend on the 300ex to get it back up to "even" he could use it to get a stroked crank for his blaster. Then a 300ex will never touch him.

It isn't like the 300EX is very new technology but it is still alot better the a blaster for trails IMO, Reverse, honda reliablity, 4 stroke power, with a 14 tooth front sproket 100kmph is fast enough to out run all the utlity quads and blasters are really small bikes it has an rt 180 motor, come on!

I like two strokes better then 4 stroke, but I still think blasters suck, buy a 250R if you want a 2 stroke, 400ex for a 4 stroke, the amount extra you are gonna spend on resale alone is worth the bigger bike.

NO WING NO PRAYER!

i say either keep your blaster or get a 400ex. with the parts you have in your blaster, you could probably sell it and buy a decent 400. you could then do some basic bolt on mods, and have a super reliable 4 stroke quad.

im not knocking the 300ex and the people who are hardcore into them, but this dude has alot of cash into his blaster, and to go to an almost stock 300ex with basic mods would be a downgrade. im not trying to offend anyone, just giving my opionion.

oh yeah, dont outrule the kfx/ltz/dvx either!!!!:D

Sorry I was under the impression we were talking about stock vs stock. Sure a 180 2 stroke makes more power then a 282 4 stroke, but there is alot more technology in a 300ex, after owning one for over 7 years and seriously kicking the **** out of the stock motor, other then adjusting the valves and changing the oil, I havin't done a thing to the motor. Just start it up 3 or 4 times a month and go try and keep up with friends on there 250r's. 400ex's, blasters, banshees. And blow away my other friends, magnum 500, honda 450es, recon.

I know it isn't the fastest bike in the world, but as far as trails go you don't need the top end of the two stroke, you wanna get home everytime, and never worry about top ends, brakes or tightening your chain on the trail. Honda all the way

I say keep with the blaster! If you go wit the 300ex, sure it might be a little more reliable, but you are going to be down grading. Especially after all that you have put into your blaster. By the way a Blaster is fine for trail riding, you just got to keep thr revs a little higher, but other than that it is faster, and just as nimble.

GO WITH A BLASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!

How old is the rider? How big is the rider? How much skill does the rider have? What type of terrain?

I 'll trade you my 97 300ex for your blaster. Its kinda beat up and half the plastic is gone, but it has a sound motor and is in very good shape mechanically. I always maintain it regularly, I just never cared much about what it looked like. Quads are made for ridin' not lookin pretty. I've been lookin for a Blaster for some time.
