i would check to see if they had sharp edges or had any visible wear. If not i would just repalce the seals.

the seals are a general wear item. i you dont replace them now and put the bike back together, there is always a chance it will leak and cause the bike to smoke. and Who wants a bike that smokes? The seals are a cheap item and easy to replace. Much better to be safe now than sorry later.;)

if you have a valve spring compressor it is pretty easy. maybe an extra hour of labor to do it, if that. Vesrah makes them as well, only $1.35 each instead of $6.50.

yes i agree with the dont fix if it aint broke philosophy, BUT for the few extra dollar it would take to replace them i would. i say call the shop and ask how much they would charge to replace them for you. I do all my own work so it is only the extra $5 or $6 bucks for me, but if you want to risk it go ahead. I would not want to pay another hour labor , but them again, i dont want to have to tear it back down either.

i would put them on forsure so you dont have to tare it down later on because you are burning oil due to bad seals
