this comming september i am going to redo my top end. i just want to know if i should go with std bore 11-1 piston or bore it to a 416 with an 11-1 piston. im also going the get a hot cam stage two and i am going to port and polish it for free. plus i can get it bored for free too. what is the power difference between the two different bores?

thanks

if i were u i would bore it out... my friend just did a std bore with a xr 400 cam 10.8:1 and the same other mods as mine and mine seems to pull harder then his...

if u bore it to a 416 u still got lots of fresh bores left u can still do 426, 440, and 465.... if u don't wanna bore it that much bore it to a 406 like i did...

There really isn't much difference between a stock bore and an overbore. The power increase felt is mostly from a compression increase, not the bore. I say go with an 11:1 or if you are up for using a race gas/pump mix, go higher, to like 12:1 comp.

how much HP would i be putting out with a Hot cam stage 2, a 11-1 piston and, a full port and polish job? plus being jetted correctly.

I rode a 416 the other day, an i must say this set up RIPS.!!!
i was very surprised at the difference in the big picture, it seemed like i revved harder from bottom all the way up top....

Punk, its my understanding that the xr400 cam is more of an all-around cam. Its not specifically designed to improve one range such as top-end. It is supposed to improve low, middle, and top (Someone correct me if I'm wrong). That was one of my criteria when selecting it, I wanted improvement acoss the board.
