SERVICE MANUAL CALLS FOR RING GAPS OF
FIRST RING .020 IN
SECOND .026
OIL RING .040
BY EYE THIS LOOKS WAY TO MUCH WOULD BE WORTH GETTING BORE CKED before ordering new rings cyl may have to be over sized by eye looks likmore than .125

Wiseco recommends about 0.004" per inch of bore diameter. Get a ruler and a feeler gage and follow the instructions that come with the piston. The gap in the picture looks way too big.

thanks cuz my dealer supposdly replaced those with new rings 1 month ago ........ my father will take the talking approach to get at least $39 back for the rings and i will just sit inside the store untill they solve my problem

Rule #1: Never let a dealer work on your quad!

i think the gap in my rings is between 1 and 2 millimeters..... and it just started smoking all of a sudden...... no minor smoking before.... and i am gettin just the next size up which would bump it to 404cc cuz i think i am gunna need all those extra overbores in the future

give me some replys here....... i am takin the cylinder to the shop tomorrow to shove it in their face and show them they didnt replace the rings 1 month ago..........they say my jetting was incorrect although the shop that has my quad now says it is perfect and they also say it is impossible for new rings to wear down that much in one month........ so do u guys think it is impossible for brand new piston rings to wear down in 1 month?

Just keep in mind, just because it new dosent mean its not broken in some way or another.

NO way did it wear down that fast, I dont care how hard you rode it. When I rebuilt my 01 400 in winter of 04/05, they looked better than that, and that was original stuff.
