My thumb and right arm get sore during XC races. Is there an easy way to modify the throttle to make it easier to push? Thanks!

Good, well lubed cable. TRX 90 Throttle assembly, or my buddy uses a brace on his thumb.

Switch to the 450r carb. Thing is so light a little kid could push it for hours.

Spray down the cable with Silicone Spray in the can. I recently did my throttle cable and I was amazed at the difference. I was riding on such a stiff throttle for a long time and I didn't even know how bad it got till I lubed it with silicone spray and felt the difference! :D

k....... i was at a local mx track and riding and every now and then i will just steadily slow down untill i cant push the throttle past halfway anymore........... i rode up to a guy and shut my quad off and said "man i cant push my throttle in anymore" and he said "well you shouldnt be@t off so much" ........ where is the realation in that............. i just dont feel like asking some random person at the track the relation between the two becuz it just would sound to creepy

A new throttle cable helps, lubing the throttle itself inside the throttle housing is a must, and the location of the throttle lever makes a big difference too.

I NEVER get tired of pushing the throttle anymore.

What kind of throttle cable lube do you guys use? Do you have to have a cable "luber"?

Lighten your spring in your carb... Mines smooth as glass.

can you just use wd-40? and do you do the same thing to the clutch cable if that is stiff to?

thanks!

i use a cable luber and my chain wax to lube my cable. i found the Chain wax last longer than WD 40, and works just as well.

I wouldn't use WD-40, it is too light of a lubricant and may evaporate over time. It is more of a solvent than it is a lubricant. The silicone spray really helped a ton for me.

I also took the thumb lever out of the housing, cleaned it, and put a thin layer of lithium grease on it. Overall, there was a night and day difference in the ease and smoothness of the throttle operation. I had a relatively new throttle cable that came with my FCR, so I never considered lubing it.

Lubing the clutch cable the same way would produce similar results, but I don't have a clutch cable anymore :blah:

I would assume a silicone spray would be much better than wd-40 because that is more of a solvent than a lubricant and probably wouldnt last. I also get cramped all up in my thumb and just not able to push the throttle on the mx track

So i figure i need to lube it up too :macho
