Check your rear bearing carrier, they might be worn out and starting to go. Is your chain hitting anything also?

it is most likely your bearings.
i will be making a write up in the how to section about changing bearings soon, check it out.

yep its bearings i had ALOT of bearing problems in my old 4 wheeler

go ride it for a wile at a fast speed and then put water on the bearing carrier and if it steams up the bearing is broke and its getting really hot

Or you can see if your axle has play in it.

thats what I was going to reccomend....cause if your bearing are shot and you ride on them, they might take out the carrier.

Like the others said, it is most likely your bearing carrier. The same thing happened to me, but I kept riding. I ended up having to buy a whole new bearing carrier. Check it out and don't ride until you find out, or it'll cost more than expected

same thing happend to me i put my quad away one night, next day i took it out and it was a loud grinding/clanking noise, like others said dont let it get worse or else you will need a whole new bearing carrier like i did lol ended up costing me 300$ for everything and to take it somewhere to have it done... i tried to do it myself but couldent get axle nut off and got frusterated, if it is the axle you can test it by jacking up the rear end and moving wheels left to right and if u have any play then thats not good... hope some of this helps
