my one friend has a duncan racing 416 ex and my other friend has a kfx with a fmf factory 4 exhaust and it is properly jetted. should the 416 be beating the kfx does the 16 cc's really make the ex faster?

If there is one thing I've learned. Don't post V.S threads here. Unless you are trying to start a war. I would definatley say it is still up to the rider.

ive found out that the honda riders say the honda and the kfx riders say the kfx and it is the same with pipes and anything else you want to post

416 dont mean crap, it could be worn out like a mutha. Or it might not be built good at all. I've drag raced a 416 and beat him, but it was more of a traction deal than a power deal. And besides what kind of racing are we talking? Good built 416 will probably take it, especially on the track

wow who cares get out there and race em, its all going to be rider who ever is a better rider a stock 400ex could be a kfx/ltz as long as the rider is good

I've owned both bikes you are describing at the same time. A well built 416ex should beat it. They are really close though. Even though the 416 has more displacement the Z/KFX has a lot newer technology so the motors IMO are very close. It wouldn't take much on a Z/KFX to make it beat the 416ex though, pipe, filter and cams, carb makes a huge difference on that bike, which is all much cheaper than how much a well built 416 would cost

I have a buddy with a 416 and he beats me every time. But he is 5'10 130 pounds and im 6'4 240. His has more power but it depends on how good of rider is on either one and how big they are. We have switched and he still wins on mine but not by much.
The 416 with a hmf pipe is faster.

u guys need to get urs heads out of ur asses cause $65 will fix the frame problem. I think thats better then speding like $500 to make a 400ex as fast as a z400/kfx. And before you start talking **** i shall let u know i race a kfx with full lt suspsension and STOCK motor and i pulled 4th in the holeshot out of 20 riders and everyone had 450's except 1. Heres a pic of my quad-

Um buddy its all the rider, u could be an amazing rider and ride 300ex and still throw it around and do pretty good, plus it cost more money than that to put a gusset kit in if u dont know how (i do know how tho) its alot of labour to strip it down to bare frame and put one in, i would know im doing it right now

um lets ee ive done 3 frames already and you dont need to strip it down to bare frame. Pull the plastics and gas tank and every thing can be welded in. All the z's really need is is the front shocks and they fixed it pretty good on the 05's cause all last year i mxed on mine and didnt get any paint chip and it was on stock suspension

lol u gotta paint the frame u cant leave it bare metal there, plus when u do it u have to make perfect welds

but yea all in all i think a "done right" 416 would beat a z400.. but with cams in the z400 its all zook

i own both of these bikes and prefer the z400 because of the suspension and reverse.. all bikes have problems

Ok don't forget about thme being slow, having shocks that bottom out on like 2ft jumps and a quad that just handles and looks like ****.except the new ones with 450r plastics(real orignal) o ya don't forget about that fact that no one has raced them pro since like 4 yrs ago.

i have to say a good built 416 wold be a z400, and this is comeing from a person that his dad has a z400 and i have a 300ex, but this a few little things the z400 would take it. i think it depends on the rider more though.

i hate when there a (V.S.) thread cuse no one give good info cuse if it was a drag 416 most likly, track = rider, woods=rider,

and what if the kfx400 had a 150 lbs rider and the 416 had a 250 lbs rider. come on guys this is stupid. theres only three brands i ride kawasaki, suzuki, and honda. i have riden the 400ex and z400 ill take a z400 over a 400ex any day but if i could get a 400ex at a good price i would take a ex too.

i do have one question for DOHC, y is ur name DOHC? becuse no honda has DOHC?

doug gust is an amazing rider, and his quad was worth more than ur life.. enough said... a well built 416 would win, and both the ex and z's are good, they have pro's and cons.. and just because u own one doesnt mean there better...ride em both and share an opinion, because its alot of preferance if u can ride a ex comfortable and a z not so, u might be faster on an ex...

There is only one true way to settle arguments of this type between members.... and that is for some riders to get together and put them to the test. Obviously, everyone has different opinions and has different experiences. That is cool, but don't make it into one being better than the other. I owned by 400Ex for 7 years with very few mods and it not only ran strong, but I never broke or even put much of any wear on the bike other than general things like tires. On the other hand, I met a guy with a 400EX that had it for 2 weeks and the clutch started slipping. Not all bikes run the same! That is why there is more than one quad built in the first place, though. Everyone can go out and get what they like.

IMO
the 416 should pull it (everything else equal- pipes,filters etc.)
on the other hand not much is equal, so race best of say 5
then trade quads and do it again.
post results for the crow eating.
not all 416's are created equal
neither are all kfx/z400's
so just because a zuki can beat one 416 dont mean he can beat them all
and vise versa.

oh yeah my valve stem caps are faster than yours

I had a 400ex and I debored it down to use a XR100 piston and I beat Doug Gust around Glen Helen, he was on his last year's yoshi Z450, we did 55 laps, it was a close race but I still beat him

DOHC is gettin outnumbered.. haha, Id love to line up against him and blow his little 416 sh** away. The Z's are 100% more comfortable any way, they gotta huge seat and just everything about them is more comfortable than the ex's. I think DOHC is done, he can go play with his polaris DOHC scrambler!!!
