the exact same thing happened to me when I was ice racing this year. My chain broke on a link and got wraped up in the front sproket. I would garuntee you that your stator is shot also mine was. there is a small black plastic thing with two wires connected to it that is directly behind the side cover right where your chain punched a hole into. a new side cover is about $66, and a new stator is about $130 from service honda.

It could be tough to get the dealer to fix. Looks like you took off the outer chain guard?? Are you saying your shift lever is bent or your shift shaft?

the shift shaft is what i ment. And i did have the case saver in place it sheerd one of the bolts strait off and broke the other 2 off dowles and all.

Shift shafts are not that hard to replace on the 450rs, and I seriously seriously doubt your dealer is going to do a thing about it.:ermm:

I called Honda just now and told them the situation the bike is 10 months old it was the stock chain and it has been serviced by a certified Honda mechanic. They said that it should be covered under the warrenty I just have to bring it in.

I am just curious if it is worn bad. Our yfz broke a chain recently and cracked a case. Someone told me that a chain will wear faster if one or both of the sprockets are worn. It didn't happen to be the case for ours and your front looks good but I can't see the rear very well in the pic.

Not a big deal either way but I am just interested. It might be worth looking at before you take it to the dealer....

wow man that sucks but im preaty sure there not gonna cover it becuase the aftermarket stuff on the bike like piston and headwork there going to come up with some type of an excuse not to fix it.......i may be wrong but i highly doubt it good luck anyways.....

The condition of the chain is BAD!!! You guys need to take the chain off every now and then and clean it real good.

i agree the chain looks fine to me..im no expert but i do know that it takes like two mins for a chan to look like crap after it has just been cleaned/waxed if you are riding in dusty /dirty conditions.
