I am attempting to get my swingarm powdercoated and need help getting the bearings out. It is a 88-89 style Laeger swingarm. I may have screwed the thing up already but can I just take a socket and beat them both out the same side? Does it matter what side?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

When I did my 88 and just recently my brothers 86, I had to cut them. I took a die grinder with a burr and carefuly cut a slit down the side of the outer shell of the bearing. Go slow and look close and you'll see when you've just started to go through. Once it's cut, it pretty much just slides out. My 88 was a ***** to put the new bearings in. Had to use the press. But my brothers 86 pushed in easily just using the vice.

shouldn't matter what direction of travel, although you get a much better impact by using a looooong extension and knocking it to the outer side. (less vibe)

To install, you may have success by heating up your swinger and freezing the bearings.

I used a 3/4" pipe tap and threaded that into what was left of my needle bearings i had broke all the walls and needles out. then you just hammer on that from the other side, this is what i did on my stock 89 swingarm... just a sugestion when all else fails
