look at my setup my jug is not ported though

if your jug is ported and it has no bottom end it could be because the port timing was changed on your motor making the powerband LIGHT SWITCH like, theres nothing you can do about that.

does the pwoer come on like that?

did this motor ever run right? what kind of cyl

whats your compression at with this motor?

I'm right down the road from you so our elevation is about the same and I run a 165 jet in both of my Rs with 38MM Air Strykers on both.

The 165 is your main jet which has little or no effect on your off idle performance. How old is your carb? Your needle and seat could be worn out if its a Keihn it can't be rebuilt...sorry If its in good shape what ratio you running? a 165 sure seems small My 330 runs a 215 (20:1 ratio though). I also run a 58 pilot but you might want to try a 48-52 to begin with. If it putters too much turn your air screw out to lean it out but if you can't get it clean by 2 turns out you need to go down again. You have to take the bowl off to do this so just be patient and you'll get it. Beerock did I miss anything?

Slick250,

Hey can you tell the difference between the 330 non and 330 PV motors? Is it huge or just a little?

If I run much bigger than a 170 jet at my 2000' elevation, it will not run worth a sh**. If I ran a 180 jet, I better have a hell of a vacuum leak or something, because that is way too much on either of my 330s, and the nonPV 330 has TRX11 porting!.

My non PV ESR330 TRX11 will tear it up good on the dragstrip, but the 330PV with TRX9 porting pulls hard out of a corner with a nice top end charge too.
Spend money on the powervalve engine if you are very serious about MX racing.

I don't race MX, I race flattrack though (just started back) do you think it outperforms for WOT and 1/2 throttle through turns?

WOT-no
1/2 throttle-yes, PV is very responsive

Brand new Air Strykers and 170 is too fat on both unless we have REALLY good air. Elevation is 2000 feet. I had a 168 in at Little Sahara this past weekend and plugs were showing a little too fat.
My buddy was running 160s in his Banshee (smaller carbs though).

I dont think my bike would even run with a 190 :eek2:

scott your running a completely different ratio, 20:1 is really a waste of oil the motor will only take a certain amount of gas the more oil you put in the larger the main you need for the motor to get the right amount of fuel for it to run right.

slick 250r is at 2000ft above sea level and I can see why you dont run higher then a 170 in your bikes. i ran a 178 main on my 265 when i was in coral pink utah(6000ft) and it ran very boggy but i was going to be at sealevel in 2 days for glamis so i figured i would start my vacation with a very rich condition the first two days , just in case.

then once i get to glamis the motor leaned elevation leaned the motor out and my jetting was back to normal.

and a 182 main

trinity cylinder

and yeah i've seen this ******* run in a trike back in the day before i bought it

and about the power i got now clue i;ve never really had it run right due to jettin problems

i run 32:1

880 ft

i agree 60 pilot sure does seem big and 260psi compression is too much for a 330 it should be 230 at the most

are you sure your compression is 260? if so i hope your running at least 108 octane like vp c12, you may even need c14...

if its still a little rich with the 185 then drop down the main a bit the DDJ is fine with a big bore

drop down to a 180 and go find a 178 as well....

you should be spot on soon
