I took mine out for like a week...
Crisper throttle response (actually noticable) but it was a ***** to start. It was like minus 1 here (celcius) and i couldnt get it to start without Quick Start.
It took me like maybe 5 or 6 minutes to take it off...
If its warm were you are, bump up your pilot jet if its stock and go for it. But if its cold i would leave it.

Make sure you throw a 42 pilot jet in there if you remove it.

there is a writeup in the FAQ forum with a step by step on how to do this.
starting is easy. mine startes as easy now without the choke as it did before with it. just turn up the idle a little, pump the throttle 3 or 4 times and hit the magic button. sometimes i ahve to actually start it 3 or four times to keep it running but it was the same way with the choke too.
