I have found that factory yamaha pads last the longest for me, YFZ450 pads are same make/design as 400ex/300ex/250x pads

ill prob pick up some ebc, just because thats what i have on rear, and their doin fine. should i bleed my lines while im at it? how hard is it?
i have a race tomorrow, and im wanting to get this done sometime within the next week or so, because my next race is in 2 weeks, and their are some extremely steep, tight downhills, and i want to be able to count on my brakes

Get the EBC SV series pads. They cost the same or cheaper than stockers and last 3 times longer! Great stopping power too.

i have the EBC organic series pads and they look like they arent even used. But then again, I use the clutch to slow my selft down, except in emergencies.

thats a big key right there is how you slowdown, some people rely only on brakes for stopping/slowing down. I learned to ride on a quad with crappy brakes, so I was taught to gear down and really weight shift on turns and sidehills so brakes were not that big a deal. Then I rode a 250x for 5 years with absolutey no rear brakes ( no rear rotor or even brake pedal ). So from that I learned how to use your front brakes to your advantage by just tapping them and gearing down. It seems I have so much more control than just stomping on rear brakes and sliding into corners. Also makes whatever brake pads I have last twice as long as everybody I rode with. Everybody is always WTF how do your brakes last so long

I dont have rear brakes..... what are rear brakes..... I have raced for over a year and the only time I used rear brakes is when I got stuck on a hill on my Predator 90 so I didnt fall down.

Yup same, think about it $26 for ebc and about $40 for stock... I'll take ebc anyday of the week.

you do not need to bleed your brakes to reinstall new pads. Just clamp the thing back down so you can fit your new pads in there and then tighten back up. You should be fine, always works for me

They wear really fast.

Just a heads up.. never use Magnum! My friend got Magnum n the pad fell right off the metal plate first time he hit his brakes lol

Don't listen to this kid, he is 16 and is full of useless information that isn't based from fact. Magnum pads work fine and we have never had a problem with them, and we GNCCs and CRAs with them. EBC are also great along with stock pads. Any pad is going to wear out under stress and mud no matter what the brand name is.

I raced my 400ex in mx and sx, and I used tusk brake pads and had no problems with the way they worked. I cant say the same for all tusk products but that was one of the ones that I did not have a problem with.

It doesn't matter what brand of pad you are using if you constantly run in mud and water. Those elements will break down pads quickly. Also the more you are using your brakes and the harder you are on them the quicker they will break down. Sintered metal is about the best you can get for an ATV but if you subject them to muddy and wet conditions they are going to break down quicker than if you just rec ride in dryer conditions.
