Well, I'm looking to get out of the quad scene because its so damn expensive. I want to move to bikes now. I'm thinking about a Yz125. I heard its one of the best kinds of bikes you can get. I want a two stroke because I'm always in the high RPMs and such. What do you guys think? What are to positive and negitives about the Yz125, what about the Cr125. I ride on trails and sand pits also but when I get a car I will be looking to race it. My budget is about $2,200 too.

both great bikes, cr handles great and 2001 was a good year for them. yz has always been a good bike but I wouldn't buy one unless it was an '05 unless your not racing.

I heard nothing but bad things about KTM and their suspension. Plus its to expensive for parts.

so why dont you want a 250f? they actualy rev further than the 125's with a 13500 rpm revlimiter. imo you should look for a used (03-05) yz250f.

250fs are better but ud better keep saving if ur gonna go that route

Too expensive. I want to buy a 125 for about $2,200 and then go work over the summer and put a bunch of parts on it.

Because the 250fs are more work, all the vavles need to be adjusted and such, the 125s are monkeys work , anyone can fix one of them.

in a mag i saw they had a shootout and Yamaha had 1st place,KTM 2nd,honda 3rd,suzuki 4th, kawi 5th

it was a 125 shootout too and they judged weight, speed, handling, shocks and all that good stuf

if it is in your budget i would recommend getting a KTM. I have a '89 250r and an '03 125. even though i like quads much better i still like to zip on the 125. everyone i ride with has motorcycles (250 hondas, yz 125s, kdx 300, ktm300, and 450 honda) and the only bikes i compare it to are the ktm 300 and the 450. my brother also raced to years of desert out here in las vegas and the only work we have really done to it is a new top end once a season. i dont think any other 125 compares to it.

05 was a brand new bike from the ground up. They put on an aluminum frame, and redid everything else.

A guy I know races one in the woods and has yet for it to give him problems. It is fast too, it outran his 01 YZ 125 that was really a 144 and had other work done also.

Wow, so its really worth the money for them instead of the older Yz?

YZ125 bro, they are the best IMHO, i had a 98 until i shattered both of my ankles on it, n after i recovered i was scared to ride it, but now i seriously regret selling it. I rode a rm125 and a yz426 and the YZ125 was the most fun compared to them.

I came up short on a big double at rausch creek and cased it on the frame. It happened almost 2 years ago, i was 14.
