03-04 400ex reverse rumor

I heard people at atv connection talking about some rumor that the 400ex may be getting reverse for the 03-04 model year. Has anyone else here heard this rumor, and is it just a rumor, or does anyone have any real facts about it?

I would rather see a crf450 cradled inbetween the frame than a reverse knob. As far as the rumor goes I haven't heard anything about it.

i hope a modded magna engine too!!!:p reverse is nice but we all need power and honda knows that they are just milking us:( cause they are lazy and dont wannamake a new motor

2003 are out next month with NO REVERSE and I highly doubt that they will use a dated air cooled 398cc engine for 2004 and add reverse. Keep the 400 the way it is, reduce the price and come out with a quad that can run with the Raptor and Bombadier. Everyone is comming with a 400cc, Yamaha with the YZ426, Bombadier with the new 400 class. Yeah the 400 is not the fastest, but it is the most reliable in my opinion. If they dropped the 400 to around $4400 give or take and had a new high power quad, Honda would have a line up with a quad for all riders. and prices that could not be beat! Imagine getting a 400ex for the price of a 300 and a 300 for a 250 etc.....

I dont think they would go that low... Maybe $200 OR $300 and keep the rest the same...

1.) We don't need nor want Reverse.- It will jsut add weight that the 400Ex doesn't need-Therefore Reducing power.

2.)Whoever said they should make a new engine doesn't follo Honda ver Well. They have the 650 engine out. It is in the form of their new Utility the "RINCON". Ya know their new Utility? For '04 they will proly stick teh 650 engine in a 400Ex frame and sell that.

3.) As for the CRF450F engine in a 400Ex frame-That isn't gonna happen-Not Yet atleast. It is not a popular enouhg idea plus they already have the 650 engine out.

4.) The 400Ex will drop in price if they coe out with the 650 Next year. But if not it will stay the same. Honda knows they are selling millioins of these quads at these prices so they must be resonable.

they may be putting reverse , upgrade it, come out with a 440, a sleeved down 450f since everyone is ,making bg bores they most like target the largest market no one is

I myself would personally prefer some model of the crf450 in my ex compared to a 650. The big bores are really letting me down, I just don't see the performance gains.

I haven't heard anything about a reverse being put on them, and I kinda doubt Honda would spend the money and make the effort to redesign it and put it in. Makes no difference to me though, a little front brake work and some throttle will pivot you right around while the front wheels stay planted right where they are. Turning radius, roughly 6ft.

I don't think they would put the 650 in a 400 frame. Because then Honda would have to build a whole new transmission for it. Who wants a sportbike with an auto tranny? Just my .02

people who buy polaris, but i too think that is a STUPID idea, i would never buy a sportbike with an auto.

BUT, yamaha did, they have the 660 with manual(raptor) and the 660 with automatic(Grizzly) so i bet honda will make a manual transmission for the 650, and i can't wait to see it. but i would rather have say.....the 450f put in the 400 frame and added reverse, cause that would give the extra power that would be needed to power the weight of the reverse, because for the places i ride, a 650cc engine is just not neccecary, but i could use 50 more cc's and definitely could use reverse

I would also rather see a fast crf450 instead of a 650.........650 is just too big and you cant race it without resleeving

the raptor and grizzly 660 motors are nothing alike but the ccs...

i would rahter see the high fast revving 450f motor in a 400 or 250r based frame then the xr650 heavy to big of bore for any race motor...

or just make both!!! my 300 is goin out and the 450f (if they make one) is comin in.. and dam it im waiting and waiting for a new one to come out, i have the money and i almost bought a 400ex yesterday but i backed out to wait for the new one to come out

everyone has to relize that a 650 is such a waste of time in a new honda. they are heavy!! the power gains suck for how big of a bore it is and the crf450 is so much better and lighter and revs so much higher and quicker. a crf450 can outrun a raptor easily.
