if i get a 400ex should i make it a hybrid or should i just get a over bore kit and pipe put on it.

just go with a 416 or 440 kit and a exhaust system and be done with it.That will give you plenty of power to do whatever.If you are in shape you will be able to smoke 450s at the mx track,most novices have their tongues on the crossbar pad after 2 laps 4 fiddys or not! if you are conditioned you can win on your air cooled 400ex:D

Yeah I found out just how out of shape I was last time I was on a good atv track. I use to race mx eight years ago and never raced atvs and man I have so much more respect for the quad racers because I use to be able to run 15 to 20 laps on my bike no problem and could only do about 5 hard laps on a quad. :huh Thought I was going to pass out.

from 250ex to 400ex will be powerful jump the 416's run good, I have heard alot of bad things about the 440 kits (cooling problems, head gaskets,etc.) I ride with two guys with 440's and they are always trying to tweek on them trying to adjust valves and jetting. just seems they punch it out too far and lose reliability. A 400 or 416 will smoke a 440 thats on the trailer.
