I wanted to get a 450 with black plastics, but I heard something about them looking bad very quickly. Is this true, and if so what makes it look bad. Also should I get the Kickstart or the Electric Start. Is the Kickstart hard to start and is there any problems with the electric start?
Thanks

The black plastic shows every scratch. I like the black but it looks horrible where my boots rub on it.

The ER is just your personal preference. I like the electric start. You just have to decide if you want the convenience of electric or if you want to save about 8 pounds.

I love my black plastics. After i wash the quad and it's still wet i dry it off with Meguiars tire shine on a towel and it shines up nicely. It also helps hide scratches. Had my 450R for about 10 months and she still looks good..........

er is nice, black does show the scratches like said but if you use a slick cleaner it brings back the shine and hides the scratches ( I use the armoral whipes for car interior) very handy and shines like new.

i have a black one. it gets scratched. i dont really care to much because its meant to be ridden hard in the dirt.

 Thats funny, But yeah, get an R and I personally own a black 450r and in my opinion it doesnt show scratches that bad. I also like black because when you pc your frame any color the black always matches. Also eight pounds is a big difference so I would keep that in mind. Good luck.:)

I have had a lot of trouble with my ER so I added a kicker and solved all the headaches. I have black also and agree that black goes with any color. I would still buy a black one if I had to do it again.

i got black too its a awesome looking quad in black imo... some honda polish hides alot of those scratches.... i also have my quad for a bit over a year and i got the orignial starter in it.. fires each time... i would def get another one if i was gonna buy another quad.

heres about 6 months into my ownership. some waxing and polish :)

Lumi,
I'm on the west coast but do a lot of business in long island. I normally stay in Brooklyn. Where the heck do you ride there?
It's all cement.

Here is a pic. of my black 05. It has some scratches but cleans up real well.

I use furnature polish for the plastic and simple green for the metal parts

my o5 kicker still fires right up after 1 or 2 kicks.
