Ok I ask this question before but I'm not satisfied with the answer. Can you use a stock head gasket on a 426.

simple answer is yes. but a cometic flexsteel gasket is better

Doesn't the bigger bore size of a 426 matter?

i would get a cosmetic one made for the 88mm bore. the 85-86mm bore head gasket will raise your compression ratio a little bit.

It will raise or lower my comp ratio? Also can't I leave out the base gasket to compensate?

You can leave out the base gasket as long as you use hondabond or some type of gasket maker like 3M. You can also get a cometic base gasket that is like .012" thick. Lots of options. Do the research...search on this site under decking the cylinder or deck height. Tons of threads on gasket thickness and what not.

running the 85-86mm head gasket will actually raise your compression ratio a little bit. with this gasket, the central hole is smaller in diamter than the 88mm gasket. because there is more gasket there, there is a little less volume.
