You could get a Piston and Cam from TC that would wake up the 400 a lot.

ok here are my questions...what all comes in the marcums kit?
i know piston rings...blah blah blah...but when i get a drop in cam does that affect the lift..Like I dont want my valves bustin a piston..Im just curious about all the minor details....Cause Im gonna order the kit soon i suppose...and i want to know exactly what has to be done

castor.....it will depend on the cam specs. some cames may have a high lift and require stronger springs. others will be ok with the stock springs. my freind 400ex127 is sending his head to LRD and it will have all new valves, springs, etc. he bought his kit from the classifeids on exriders. it has everything to install it, less a sleeve but i think you get the stock cylinder bored out for that kit.

Blindsided is correct, the 416 only requres the cylinder to be bored, no resleeving.

Castor, I would also suggest getting a service manual if you don't already have one. It made the job a lot easier. The only way I could see your valves hitting your piston, is if you install the cam wrong, or have your timing way off. I can't speak for any other shops, but I ordered my kit from Marcum's, and I was more than happy with the service after the fact. Every time I had a question, Terry was more than happy to clear things up for me. Someone posted specs for cams here http://209.120.142.52/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21917&highlight=cams if they are any help to you.

Jessy, I don't know what info you are looking for, but I think it is an excellent mod. It gave my EX a whole new life. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, the mod should cost you less than $400, depending on who does your cylinder boring. Labor-wise, it took me a few hours for tearing down, and rebuilding. Just my opinion, but with a kit like this, you may want to get a K&N filter, and at least a slip-on silencer, if not the whole exhaust. I don't know if anyone else has run this kit with stock exhaust and filter, but I don't think you will get the same performance out of it.
