I just got my hands on a 1999 Banshee. Paid 2200 for her and she seems to be running great. I formally owned a 400ex and had to sell her. I have been sad ever since so I picked this one up.
Let me list the mods he has made.
Boysen reeds
FMF Fatty gold series pipes and power core 2 silencers
KN filter and rejetting. ( Just upped her to a 300 yesterday because it is only 40 degrees here. )
TORS system removed
14 tooth sprocket
Dura Blue axle
Works dual rate shocks
+2+1 Chrome a-arms
+4 (I think) swingarm
The guy who had it before me removed the stock lights and taillight as well as all the components that went with it including the key.
Any tips on thigs that I should check, everything seems to be in order and shee is running fine. Does this look like a good deal??
Not used to a 2-stroke but I am happy I am back at this sight and back riding. Any general advise would be most appreciated. Thanks Guys

Was thinking about that. Should I send that off to Alba?? Also, should I get a new cool head as well. Those two seemed to make the most sense. Former owner never had to rebuild the top end and I would like to kep it that way for as long as I can.

also what size carb does it have ..because i have 34pjs on mine and a budy of mine has a shee with dune port and mine is not ported ...we have all the same mods but port and carb (he has a stock carb) and we both run a 6.0 in 300 f ..so if you dont have a bigger carb then a port job in not worth it ....

Just stock carbs for now. It would be cheaper to buy the pj's though and a lot easier. Good idea.

I just spent the weekend in Rockford at the new rocky glen atv park. Normally I ride in Bartlett. I have a couple other spots that I go but it would take me to long to explain.

Look into the trinity stage IV single carb kit. We ran that on a shee on our race team. Made it much easier to tune and made a pile of bottom end with out loseing any top end power. It is a must for a trail or any shee in my op.
nice buy none the less congrates.

So many factor in a race like that. Traction, was it in the dirt? Then the tires and the tread on them would factor who gets the most traction off the start. Gearing taller gearing will help you reach a higher speed if you tap out in the drags with the stock gearing. Weight and rider skill...........it goes on.
No, you dont want to get 34pjs for you stock banshee because there is such a thing called over carbing a bike. Porting is the #1 most bang for your buck. Do your research on a good builder, alba IMO aint *****. IMO take it to someone that has years of experience with banshees ya alba might, but they do alot of other bikes to. Also, your main jet is way off unless your around 8000 ft. above sea level. What is your exact elevation (google it)?
you might try bansheehq.com for loads of info on builders...passion racing, f.a.s.t racing, backcountry, grr, rdz, k&k to name a few.

I rejetted to a 290 main. The only reason that I am so high is because it is only 40 degrees here in Illinois right now. It seems to be looking just right on the plugs. I was hoping to come down to a 260 which is what FMF reccomends. I am almost perfectly at sea level. I run mostly trails and just running around.
