I have a friend at work that is considering purchasing a inexpensive, beginner quad to use for the summer. Since it has to be cheap, it will also have to probably be a pretty small bore. (since they are cheaper)

He is about 5'10" 165. How do you guys think the following quads would work for him?

Warrior

Blaster

300ex (probably too expensive, but this woudl be my first choice for him)

250ex

LT250r

Any advice would be appreciated. Remember, the quad has to be under $1500!!

im goin to say 300ex or a blaster and maybe the worrier but i think the lt250r would be to much to learn on cuse its just like that name says quadracer. the 250ex's are kind of wimpy if ur looking to have a good quad ( no efence to you 250ex riders)

remeber the LT250r is a race quad, if he's a beginer, he dosent need it.
my vote is warrior or 300ex. he should just sit on both and see which one he is more comfortable on

If he's 5'-7" of shorter.. go with the 300ex. Taller go with the Warrior.

I'd reccomend he at least look at the 400ex's. Great quad.. and used ones aren't much different in price that a used 300ex or warrior. And, honestly is a MUCH easier quad to ride.

IMHO a 400ex is actually a better beginner quad than either the 300ex or the 250ex. It's more stable. Has enough power to lug up the steep hills without downshifting, and is more stable everywhere. I've jstu found the 400ex to be a much easier quad to ride than the 300ex, 250x, 250ex, warrior, or blaster.

I am leaning towards the Warrior since it is alot cheaper than the 300ex. If price was not a concern, the 300ex woudl be the best choice. I threw in the 250r because if he did decide to stop riding, he would definetly get his money back. Plus, if he really likes it, he would stay happy with it longer than he would a Warrior. But, you guys are right...he woudl probably not have as much fun learning.

i know you didn't list it in your options, but i agree with bwamos, you friend should get a 400ex. it may be a tad more intimidateing to learn on, but it is something he can grow into.

Oh yeah, I definetly agree. I learned on a 400ex and still enjoy riding it. I would definetly recommend it to him, but I think price will be a problem. He can get a cheap Warrior or something that was made in the early 90's...400exs were first made in 99.

remember, the older quads are going to need work. (bearings, bushings, all that good stuff) so price will be close to the newer quads.
