I just traded a 02 yz426 for a 02 400ex and found the upper ball joint is out. I'm sure people have already asked this but what is the best thing to do? Buy a new stock a arm or cut the old one off and replace it with an aftermarket bolt-on ball joint? And where could I get one? I don't want to spend $500 on aftermarket widening a arms I just trail ride and ride on mx tracks once in a while. I would like to go the cheapest route. Just wonder what all of you have done because I'm sure its happened a lot.

You're best bet is to buy a new a arm. They are pretty cheap for the 400.

I checked at the local honda shop and they said $180. That sounds like a rip-off. I was looking at my brothers 250x that has bolt on ball joints, wonder if i can cut mine off, drill out the a arms and put in a stock 250x ball joint with a bushing for cheaper yet still be stong as stock and be able to replace it someday. Has anyone done this?

Buy one on ebay or the used section on here, you could probably pick a single one up for like $20
