You can always get the lift/duration specs and compare to that offered by Hotcams. Many companies offer cams with identical or nearly identical specifications to what other companies offer.

Hotcams' price and not requiring a core (your old cam) is hard to beat if you're satisfied with their lift/duration numbers.

If you run a search on here I have seen the specs of 6-8 cams offered for a 400ex compared sidebyside but the reason I went with hotcams is 1. no core charge 2.the price is hard to beat 3.you don't need hardwelded rockers to use them.

Im holding out for the HRC cam I heard they make the most power and that they work with stock rockers.

Also extremely pricey, like in the $400 range.

Its for the xr400 last I knew. Contact Laz at GT Thunder because he swears by them and he would know more about them. I'm pretty sure Rico is running one right now.

I asked colby at c&d.. now dont quote me on this, but im pretty shrue he said the hrc is a happy medium between the hotcams stage 1 and 2.

My buddie has a hotcams stage 1 in his quad, I dont like it, feels like it falls on its face in upper rpm.

I'm running the stage 2 hotcams.

Pretty much, if your rockers are worn out, get web cam, because the rockers have to be hardened anyways.

other wise hotcams.

hrc cam is the way to go. It is really expensive but it is made by honda and that is all that is going in my engine.

I've heard great things about hrc... I own two 400ex's. My 426ex has the more serious motocross web-cam in it, which i think is ok. But for the money to have your rockers hard welded and all, it ain't worth it. I had a stage2 hotcam in my other quad. It ran great! Now it's in my friends 426ex and he loves it. Now I have a stroker hotcam, specifically designed for what I have done to my motor though. +4mm stroke... But it does awesome too! I guess I'm partial to hotcams for the small fact that I have had two of them, and great luck with both.

that one from whitebros doesn't require ya' to have hardfaced rockers - I'm sure there are better ones - but require hardfaced $$$$ - that's why I used it - my mech. said w/ any more lift to it I'd have to change my rockers - and it sure made a BIG diff. -

WE run a XR400 cam in my 426ex, it's a little noisy though, I think when we get the extra $$ we may get a HotCam to see the difference one of our friends that has a 440 stroker says our cam is "different" LOL

I would go w/ the HOtCams also!! I run a WEB in my 300ex & had to get hardened rockers for it!! BUT I lvoe it!!

I run a HRC cam in my GT Thunder stroker race motor. By FAR, the best cam I have ever used. Blows the standard Hotcam Stage 1/2 out of the water no contest... Not to say that they are not good cams because they are; BUT the HRC will yield more usable gains and less holes in the powerband than the Hotcam. I really can't say enough about it, if any of you rode my quad, you would believe for yourself  Revs like you wouldn't believe for such a long stroker (+7mm). Save your cash and you won't be disappointed ;)

The TC is also a good choice. Doesn't get any better than running a Honda racing cam with the factory decompression in a Honda engine IMO :D

I do not hav hardened rockers, just stock...

Im not sure on the price of the cam itself, I bought the motor complete from a member on this site for about $1500...
