What do you think would be the best proformance upgrade or cosmetic upgrade besides graphics. I only have 80.00 but was thinking about a bumper but what could I get to make it faster for that much money.
Thanks,
Kyle

For a totally stock bike? I'd say an airfilter and spot-on jetting. You'll even have money left over!

CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) and rev box are the same thing--the small, black, electronic box that controls the ignition timing. There are aftermarket units that replace the stock box increasing the redline by ~1000rpms and advance the ignition timing.

By "spot-on jetting" I mean adjusting the carburator to more accurately match the fuel/air mixture needs of the engine.

By far graphics! They make your quad so much faster. Also call up different ATV companies they'll send you stickers for free, cover your whole bike in brands you like, but don't really run. It just looks cool and adds about 1/2 hp per sticker!

K&N, rejet, bumper, grab bar, bars, grips, clutch levers, shifter/brake levers.....not that you could get them all but all are lower priced items......k&n and rejet top of list

smaller front sprocket, bumper or handgaurds.

definatly smaller sprocket or save 20 more dollars a put a 11:1 comp piston in. or ditch air box lid get K&n filter hollow out stock exhaust and rejet. but no matter what get rid of air box lid all they are good for is keeping water out when washing it

swingarm skidplate save you mnoney on other parts stock one will bend your rear brake rotar if you hit n e thing to fast

Skidplates sound good especially were I ride. Superstition is very rocky and you are always hitting them. Am also thinking of saving up half of a whitebrothers e-series slip--on and split it with my dad.

I would like to know where some of you are buying parts if you are getting a Filter, Bars, and jet kit for $80.

I would say slap a K&N filter on and buy a jet kit. That might go around $80-$90 but it will make a huge difference.

The first upgrade I make on any stock quad is nerf bars. I won't ride without them. One good slip and you will know what I mean....broken ankle.

2nd upgrade is a frame skidplate. I hate seeing a stock frame that is flattened.

3rd upgrade, swingarm skid. Check around though, these aren't created equally.

4th, new bars. The stock bars are cheap and the bend is terrible for aggressive riding.

5th, open airbox, high flow foam filter like White Brothers, and a Dynojet kit. The new needle and their jets will most likely result in spot on jetting on your first try. If you can rub your tummy and pat your head simultaneously, you should have no trouble jetting a 400ex carb.

6th, get the slip-on and rejet using the left-over jets from your Dynojet kit.

I only run UNI's and their only about $25 shipped on ebay. Handlebars can be had for less than $20, but I also bought my renthals straight from NACS racing for $50. Jets are only a couple of bucks. Do you need me to add it for you too?:blah:

Do nerf bars actually help??? My feet have slipped off many times and no broken anything. I think they look sweet and all but I think the pegs save me from running over my feet. But I guess the boots help a lot as well. Probably going to go k&n and jet kit...

jordan_m6

yes, at some tracks they are a must or you cannot ride. but if you do trail riding mostly than you dont need them.

Those i believe would work fine. I would think that you could find a cheaper jet kit than that but maybe not.

Also the UNI foam filter is a very good filter and is way cheaper than a k&n and you dont need to run an outerwears filter cover with them.

I think that the UNI will run around $20 to $25 . (Someone let me know if i just lied) That will save you even more $$.

The filter is really personal preferance. There are some people that are die hard k&n fans and the same with UNI.
Its Fords or Chevys. You pick. If you ride i very dusty areas then i would got with the UNI.

Just the fact that your feet have already slipped off tells me you are a ticking time bomb. All I can say is don't get upset when you are out of commission because your foot managed to get caught on the ground while your quad rolled on. And when you go to the emergency room, change your clothes and tell them it was a skateboarding accident.

Ya buy an air filter, a 14 tooth front sproket, and jet your quad. It will feel like your quad is way faster.

it wont be faster but ull have shorter gears and rev faster.

flauge
03-23-2006, 04:43 PM
it wont be faster as in top speed but it'll accelerate quicker, which is good for riding tight trails and whatnot ,but for fast trails and dirt roads it would'nt be that great i dont think

Ya thats what gearing down is. Saying that stuff wont make your quad faster is like saying you shouldn't get a pipe because it doesnt give you a higher top speed it just makes you accellerate faster. lol

Well the cheapest performance upgrade would be racing decals...stickers will add about quarter horsepower each, but decals will add about half horsepower each. even better is a graphocs kit, the more expensive the kit is the more power you will gain. some kits even give u about 10 horsepower gain

03-23-2006, 08:19 PM
Prolly a turbo charger and nitrous system from KBS....OH SORRY I THOUGHT THIS SAID THE 8,000 dollar forum question......sorry but if you can just afford 80.00 upgrade why do you have a atv??

haha yep, nerfbars are good.. i swear by them aswell.. whether its on the MX quad or the weekend quad, they are still worth saving my foot and ankle, slip your foot of on a 60 footer and no nerf bars.... ouch

Where is the CDI box? I ride my ex on a lot of season roads and am always near top speed (I think). The thing is about wound tight and I get woried that I'm going to blow her up? Does the CDI box prevent it from over revving?
