get timing chain on gear

guys, i am in th emiddel of a top end rebuild of wifes 300ex, putting back togethor and i am having trouble getting the chain on the gear? is there soemthing i am forgetting, of a trick?

They can be a real pain to re-install if the cam sprocket is still bolted to the cam. Unbolting the cam sprocket is usually the easiest way.

Put the chain on the gear, then bolt the gear onto the cam. Should do the trick.
