There is a write up on changing to a 42 Pilot in the articles section. Basically it helps with the cold starts of the 400ex. Many (like myself) get rid of the choke with this change for better throttle pick up. I can't believe the difference it made to the bottom end. It just power wheelies from a really low RPM on up. The only problem is stating is a little harder (in my opinion) when it is cold out. It usually takes a couple of times to get it running and you have to man the throttle to keep the RPM's up. When an engine is cold it is very hard for fuel to stay atomized. It wants to puddle up when it hits the cold metal. No big deal, after about a minute it is warm enough to idle and your good to go. I just started mine in 30 degree weather and that is about as cold as I would ride in any way. If you like to ride in colder weather you might want to keep the choke. Hope this helps.

Go with the 42 pilot for sure with the motor mods you have. It should be just right for the bike. It will also start alot easier.
