MU daughters rm85 quit running thought piston and rings (low compression) tore apart and found 1/8 to 3/16 play at crank bearing .can any one tell me if possibl to do at home or do i need a specialty shop to do . I have spent the last 25 years working heavy equiptment but my sons 400 ex keeps kicking my back side

2 strokes are simple, if you get a service manual you should be able to do it easily. a 2-stroke simpler to work on than a 4-stroke. nothin to them. if you are moderately mechanically inclined you should be able to do it without any problems.

sounds like you need to split the cases and change the crank bearing. go buy a clymer manula and you should be able to handle the job by yourself
