i normally run 4 PSI front and rear but today i tried 5 PSI in the rears and dont like it.i do trail, hills, and freestyle riding.i tried going up a hill that i usualy climp right up with 4PSI and i couldnt get up it with 5.i got stuck at the top.on the sandy trails the rear tires were sliding all over the trails and it made doing wheelies a little harder.

to me tire pressures are like jetting the carb, you gotta try different pressures and see what works best for you, your riding and quad.

I run 15 all around for my tires. Yes, 15psi.

I usually run 5psi +/- depending on the riding conditions.

I run 5 psi front & back. Do mostly trail. I have holeshots xcr. I read sommers said GNCC dudes run 5 rear , 7 front. My tire gauge only gets to 5 - gotta buy a new one.

I run 3-5 rear and 7 front, i race and ride XC terrain only, but on occasion do some smaller jumps, i will vary the rear tire pressure from 3-5 depending on track conditions

Let the shocks do the work, the tires are just there for the bike to roll. Think about it, your shocks may not be bottoming out, but your wrists and ankles still feel the effects. Air your tires up, you'll notice the difference.

Generally, XC uses a little less air pressure than MX. It helps soak up those little rocks and junk. Instead of your tires sitting on a rock, they sit [/I]over[/I] it. I've never raced XC, so I don't know for certain, but I'd imagine about 5psi.

Sand uses very little, I run less than 3psi in the sand.

For TT racing, you usually want to keep your tires from rolling over, and you don't have those small rocks and junk to deal with, so you run a bit higher pressure, generally around 8-10psi.

EvilJester knows what he's talking about. I run MXR4's front and back, 18X10X9, and 20X6X10 for MX. Mx is WAY DIFFERENT than XC, so let me tell you about MX. If you run XC you should be using a different tire than you would for MX anyway so there is no comparison. I run 12-15 up front and 10-12 in rear. I, and most MX'ers run this amount, call ITP and they'll tell ya about 10 in rear and 11 up front. You want a very hard tire, like Jester said, it order to have the suspension do the work and not the tire. Taking big hits like in MX you don't want to flatten a tire and bend a rim. I'm not talking about 10 foot jumps people build in their back yard but 60 to 80 foot doubles. With too little pressure 2 things can happen, one is as mentioned above and flatten a rim, secondly you may pop the tire off the bead with too little preasure if not running beadlocks. Another advantage of this higher psi for MX is you get a more responsive feel from the suspension. I make it easier to dial in suspension because you know you are feeling the shocks and not the tires. And yet another advantage is less tire flex in hard corners leading to less body roll. When you have too little pressure in the front the tire doesn't have enough rigidity to make proper tight turns. Too little make the quad feel "loose" and "bouncy". There is an article in the new ATVSport Mag (May 2006) on page 81 that says Lost Creek Cycles' Kevin Mummah "Runs anywhere from 12 to 20 psi in our front tires". 20 I think is a little much but I must say as stated in an above post, experiment with what feels good for your quad set-up and the tracks you ride on.

How much air should I put in my tires if I jump a lot? They are the stock tires.

try 6 psi per tire thats what i used to ride but i recommend you buyin new tires. theyre a great improvement to your quad.

Im planing on buying new tires when the stock ones wear out.
Why does it say that Im suppposed to have 4.4 psi in the front tires and 4 psi in the rear. Is it for people that dont jump.
