He's reffering to the turbo off of a 1982 Yamaha Seca Turbo II. My pops has an 1983 in storage that's pretty mint :D

Let's see some before pics, I might have to borrow a turbo

how long with this horse power did the trx hold together, if more than a day I would be impressed.:eek2: cool pictures, sorry about the rod,but it looked like you need a stronger one anyway LOL.!!!!!!

that is why when I designed the 530R, I designed it to withstand 150HP on the crank. We'll just see how ours holds up in less than two weeks. I'm more woried about the cases over 100hp than our crank/rod setup.

Oh, forgot, sorry about what happened to you. I know how you must feel.

You'll get her back together again.. :D

Sorry to hear about your motor. 92hp is very impressive and it looks like a sleeper when you have the fenders on it I bet. Nice!

sorry, bro. you're gonna have to wait a couple months to see this one back together. unless you wanna see pics of boxes of parts. i could take some of those. i'm working on my other 450r right now. but this is kinda a second hobby for me, and the real fun is gonna start in less than a month.

wow 22 psi lil high dont you think?! was it turned down at all or was it set there from the get go? what type of compression where you running? stock carb just jetted? Im very interested in your project. thinkning about giving it a go. how much cash did you invest to get it running? any info you would be willing to share with me would be great cause I dunno where to start but would really like to get this quad whistling thanks!!sweet nova by the way!

if you're serious about wanting to blow through the stock carb, let me know and i'll get you the info. i spent a lot of time getting it to work, and it's not easy. i wouldn't recommend it. i will say that the spring needle will not allow any fuel pressure without modifications, and the air-introducing emulsion tube design of the carb is not condusive to blow-through applications without modifications.

also, if you are going to run a oil-fed turbo, like me, the oil supply from the TRX pump is questionable. although the motor, and turbo, showed no signs of lack of oil. however, it did only run at full throttle on the dyno before it broke the rod. an alternative route would be a self-contained turbo like an Aerodyne, or a dedicated oiling system for the turbo.

my choices on location, turbo choice, etc were based on convenience and cost. i have about $200 into the whole setup. thats considering i owned most of the parts to begin with--turbo (rebuilt be TEC in Denver), Mallory 4307 regulator, Walbro fuel pump, etc. I had to buy some stainless and silicone and thats about it. the carb is actually modified using office supplies and a needle i made myself. the a/f ratio was about 11.5:1 when it broke and i was creepin up on the tune-up. low speed ridability (as best i could tell on the dyno) was less than desirable, but tolerable considering how fast this machine will be.

i knew the motor would let go eventually (i actually didn't expect that quick), but thats what happens when you make big power on cheap or stock parts--they break.
