i frequently see members looking for the names of songs or artists who sing particular songs and figured i would share a great site to help them. though i have a lump of knowledge of music, i get stumped sometimes and resort to this site. you can search by artist, song name, lyrics,etc. i usually type in a few lyrics and 90% of the time, i find the song here. http://www.letssingit.com/ . there are a few other similar sites but this is one of the very few that have a "search by lyrics" option.
you can then go to www.cdnow.com and search for the artist and song. once found, you could then to listen to a media clip to verify if it is the particular song you are looking for or download it from a file sharing program. ;)
