ok im getting my 416 back together and ive looked on here but cant find it, what oil should i use, i know it has to be a non synthetic for proper seating of the rings but is any 10w-30 petroleum car oil ok?

10w-40 would be better.

I've used synthetic on my breakin the last too rebuilds I did with no problems. That's an old myth. Our 400ex being air cooled heat up quick and seat the rings just fine with synthetic but you do what you want with it dude it's your motor. Good luck and have fun with the 416.

I run 20w-50 year around and used it to break in my motor several times.

this is what i just bought, ive been running amsoil 10 30 for winter and 20 50 before that for a few oil changes but my shop was out so i got this from autozone, weve been running the valvoline in my sisters 300ex for 2 years with no problems what so ever
