How fast is your modded 400ex

mine is a 465 stroked big bore, geard at 14 front 36 back, I duno, but it feels like it goes 90 mph in fifth gear over loose dirt, it excellerates like a rocket, pulls the front wheels off the ground in second and third gear, how fast is your 400?

i just got my four Stroke tech 500ex kit put back together and it is a monster. i havent changed the gearing yet so it is insanly quick. the torque is unreal. i smashed on it in 5th and all it did was spin the tires in the grass and on the dirt road. i am taking it to the drag strip this weekend and see what it runs in the quarter mile and all. wanna race? anybody?

I got a 580 stroker kit from TC racing, its got dual fcr39mm carbs, dual overhead cams, and a 7 quart oil tank. Its very very fast.

my bike is bone freaking stock, i can nearly hold the front end up in 3rd on SAND. stock gearing.
i cant quite do it, i have to click 2nd to 3rd to keep it up in 3rd.

brotha, i live right nexts to Glamis, stock 400's run like a pig in the sand, you ain't goin' to pull wheelies at glamis in third gear, my 400 was stock, once( for 5 minutes), along time ago, I knowz whats I'm talkin' 'bout.

I think there are two very different ideas going on here. First, a wheelie can be "pulled" just from the power of the motor. You do not pull back on the bars and try to get it to come up-- having the power to pull the front end just with upshift from 2nd to 3rd is a different story. The other is actaully pulling back on the bars while giving throttle and pulling the fron up for a wheelie. Any stock 400ex can do this in first and second (maybe third) giving enough force exerted and enough weight shifted towards rear.

Anyways, with my stock gearing with the mods printed below...I did the math with the extra 1,000 RPMs and mine would prob max out around 73-74 MPH.:D

Yeah, bro, I was refering to unforced wheelies where the engine does the work, not a yank the handle bars as hard as you can when you hit a bump type wheelie, according to that calculater, my quad should hit 81mph, with different tires and gearing I could see mid 90's.

ok, so yours does it in second and third with a stock swingarm correct? And it does that on asphalt or dirt? Ok, mine will try to loop out in first on asphalt, try to loop out in second, but not so quick, it pulls the front tires about 30 inches in third, about 18 inches in 4th, and it pops up a little in 5th...on a +2 swingarm on asphalt. On dirt, the Razrs are about like slicks...no hook up AT ALL! Now when its run on alcohol...It is almost uncontrollable...but thats alright. Oh yeah, for you guys about to call BS on me, I dont care if you believe it over the net or not, you will believe it if I ever get a chance to line up against you.

Ricky G, hey you live in brawley, great, maby ill show you my near 3rd gear whellies down there sometime, im 4 hours away, i ride octillo wells alot, when its cooler out there anyways
the thicker sand is easyer to pull whellies in.


but mikebone is right, i wasnt clear enough, but at octillo wells i can nearly pop it up in 3rd and hold it on the sand highways.
and thats not hitting a bump eather.

glamis, octillo wells are 2 different types of sand completely, very thick at octillo, but the thicker sand makes for more grip, theres a couple of sand hills that are softer than the rest of the sand.

between dirt, octillo wells sand and glamis sand, octillo wells is easyer to try and get it up in 3rd, just the way the ground is.

Ummm the 800 r.a.v.e. Rotax motor in a quad, stock they'er 110 hp, modded like mine about, 150 hp, how did you get a clutch hooked up they have no clutches on them, and they need allot of water to keep them cool, not very feasible putting one in a quad.

I can get a wheelie up in 3rd gear on my stock 300EX, no lie, just pull back on the bars and punch it, the engine has to be in the right rpm range, it cant be boggin but almost about to wind out.

Don't even try and BS me on this motor Bro, I race a 97 Sea Doo spx on the IJSBA tour with this motor, they will never produce 200 hp, no matter what you do, this motor is to powerfull for quad applications anyway, you spent allot of money for nothing.

i'm not flaming you but the mods in your sig arnt goin to give you anymore top speed with those i'm willing to bet your still doing 65 but with a better bottom end with the pipe and filter which can also add to your top end but not enough that you can go 75:huh

Realllly, the stock rotax head is the first thing to go when cranking up the hp on a 800 rotax engine, we run Miller, or ADA heads with interchangable domes, I can't see how a stock rotax head on a shee bottom end is going to do squat, 800 rotax's run 89mm pistons, so how will this head work on a shee? even Mcdizzy is only able to get 130 hp out of a shee engine, your fact ain't straight.

i got my friend to follow me in his truck. i have stock gearing and a stock revlimiter. i also have a sparks exhaust , jets , and a K&N filter( yes i know this adds no top end). but one thing that i do have that affects top end is 18" holeshot mx's. i got my 400 runnin untill the revlimiter was kicking in in 5th gear with him right behind me in his 02 chevy. he said i was going 68 mph which suprises me. anyway , i can stab the gas and pick the tires up in second gear easily and 3rd gear is fairly easy to do by sliding thru a corner in 2nd , then hitting 3rd and easing on the gas then it pulls the front tires. popping the clutch in 3rd makes it even easier. i can straight up roast a gutted 69 nova with a 350 in it in a drag race untill my top end. and an 02 chevy with a v-6 isnt a match either. these are the only cars i have raced and i would like to see how it does against some faster cars like mustangs/camaros. but that street sure is hard on my mx's :devil

How fast ya think my 250X will go with that 15t front sprocket? fast enough for a 250X. You have to read you manual , and find out your right trans reduction, and ratios to get it right...Without changing the ratios for my 250X, with my setup. Im already hittin 75.

Highly modded 400's can see between 9,500 and 10,000rev's easily, that's why all the work on the valves, rocker arms, valve guids, cam, and springs are needed, it's a good idea to have a Carillo rod too.

he said he was still fine tuning things like tire size, gear ratios, but he said he hauls. the sound must be awesome.

I am running the 170 main, but I am right about sea level. The higher you get the leaner you will need to run. Seems to be running good for me, but I do need to pull my plug & check it out.
