Hey, What do you guys think of the AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology processor?? I'm financing a new laptop pretty soon and right now, its coming down to the choice of the processor! I talk to a guy today who told me the AMD Turion 64 was the best out right now and is the ONLY one that will be able to handle Windows Vista when it comes out. I am deffinatly going to be upgrading my OS to Vista, so I need the fastest, most efficient processor out right now! HELP!!!!!!!

Check out the stats on This thing!

I have the AMD Turion64 processor in my Compaq laptop that I am typing on right now and I love it. I have heard only good things about it. It's just like the Intel Centrino except it's faster (64 vs. 32 bit) and is usually less expensive. Go for it!

The absolute best processor out right now is the AMD 64 fx60. that thing is unreal fast. but its also 1200 bucks. I have an AMD x2 4200+ is dual core, and its really nice. i would highly recomend it. i do many tasks at the same time, and i never experience lag at all. Im not sure if they make that so it would fit in a laptop though, im not that computer smart

Help me out here. I thought ALL of the AMD 64bit family would work at full speed with the new windows vista 64 bit operating system. Thats what it was designed for, right?

I know the AMD 64 works fine with XP's 32 bit system, but as I understood it, its full pontential would be reached with a 64 bit OS

honestly as a rule of thumb a desktop compy will give you more bang for your buck and better life since everything isnt all squished in there and subject to excess heat and jarring around like a laptop. If you are looking for a ultimate compy go with dual AMD Turion 64. That should keep you going forawhile!

Check out the vista website. I dont think they're releasing too much info about it yet. There is alot of leaked info floating around, who knows how much of it is true. But I think you'll be fine with any 64 bit. The guy at best buy said that a 32 bit would not be able to handle vista...but dont hold me to that, i think it would be very slow though w/ the 32 bit
